🫣 Obsession Alert!! 🫣 I got to put in some practice yesterday after work with the new simulator & I might be obsessed - lol. No seriously, I ALWAYS advocate for #practice. It’s super important in your #cyber journey. But- let’s talk about practice: ⬇️⬇️ 1️⃣ Practice with a purpose. In the pic I hit over 300 balls in yesterdays session, but that was spread out over an array of self imposed challenges based on what I worked on. In my case 50 shots at different ranges. For your @hackthebox_eu or @tryhackme sessions, pick the modules that specifically fills gaps in your knowledge. 2️⃣ Set time limits. Practice takes a mental toll on you. With 300+ shots that’s up to 3 full rounds of golf (assuming you shoot ~100). There is no way my #1 shot was a great as my #325 shot. Same with your #hacking practice. You will make typos, miss clues on your scans, etc. this also great #OSCP advice. You’re sitting there for 24 hours - pace yourself. 3️⃣ Document your practice. There is a pyramid of learning (will post that in a different thread), but demonstrating what you’re doing only affords you 30% retention! So we have to layer the other aspects of the learning pyramid to solidify the knowledge. This is where I encourage you to produce something with your learnings. A blog. A video. Something. This gets you into the “discuss” level (50% learning retention), and even “teach” level which has a 90% learning retention. Get used to documenting and talking about it.
