Okay so now we have one quality common opponent between ND and Miami in Pitt. Miami was better in worse conditions vs Pitt actually trying to win the game.
But this is stupid. Because instead of that we could just use the actual game when they played each other
Miami > ND
@iLegend1984@dannykanell Sorry to tell you that opinions aren’t moot, or mute, because the opinion of the folks that matter says ND is better. It’s always been opinions. Never objective.
@chadmfuller@dannykanell It’s not an opinion that ND lost to Miami. I don’t care who you or anyone else thinks is better. 2 teams have the same record and there is a head to head. Opinions are mute at that point.
@chadmfuller@dannykanell At the end of the day miami has better wins. ND has better losses (which is ridiculous that that’s what is being used to keep them ahead of miami). Miami has the h2h. Common opponents is even.
@TheCoolerMelB@dannykanell I’m not going to go back and forth multiple times here. We can agree to disagree. I think ND is a better team. You think Miami is a better team.
@robertoalcalde@dannykanell I don’t disagree with this. College has never been objective. The only way to fix this argument is to go to the NFL model of play. There it’s win and you are in.
@chadmfuller@dannykanell It also does not matter that Notre Dame lost to Miami in week 1. The right thing would be to pick the best 12 teams regardless of conference titles. Does anyone think the BYU, Utah and Tulane can play with Notre Dame, Miami or Texas ?
@TheCoolerMelB@dannykanell Week 1 matters. I won’t argue that. Weeks 2-12 matter too. The 10-2 records aren’t equal when the 2 losses for one are against unranked (at the time) teams.
@chadmfuller@dannykanell Smu is in fact ranked and may actually win the conference. Miami lost on the road in OT.
Does it not matter that miami beat ND? Oh wait. Week 1 doesn’t count right?
Miami finishes 10-2. I don’t understand how 10-2 Notre Dame gets in over them as an at large. Everything is setting up so far today for the committee to have a bunch of tough decisions on at large picks.
@dannykanell So in your video this morning talking about using all 12 data points for Texas, you’re going to ignore Miami’s losses to lesser opponents? Only when it fits your narrative I guess.
The margin isn’t really relevant, it was a 37-9 game in the 4th without Pitt having scored an offensive TD. However, it is equally as dominating and the point to ND being ranked higher is they were clearly playing better. Not sure that’s true anymore, it’s certainly not clear.
@AriWasserman Suppose the AP poll is wrong? Is the Coaches poll wrong? What about the simulated BCS rankings? Are all of those also wrong? It sounds like it’s your feelings that are getting in the way.
I want to say thanks to @CoachD178 for his hospitality for my son and I’s first trip to South Bend for a game.
