@TKsMantis Obsidian of 2010 is nothing like Obsidian of 2026. Avowed flopped. Outer Worlds 2 flopped. And Grounded flopped as well. If Chris is not welcomed back for the new project, we should expect yet another Fallout flop. Emotional investment is a liability these days.

The challenge is taking the risk of making a sequel when the first installment is "decent." That’s how you get games like Assassin's Creed 2, Borderlands 2, etc.

I worry that this will end very badly. Obsidian hasn’t released a great RPG in over a decade. Outer worlds 2 was trash and worse than 1 (which was already not good) and Avowed was AWFUL. Their last 3 RPG’s all flopped. The fact they were even planning an Avowed 2 is terrifying…

"Fallout: New Vegas" was 16 years ago. The studio that made it no longer exists. The problem with Obsidian isn't that they are making "Avowed" instead of "Fallout," the problem is the personnel decisions that transformed them from what they used to be into what they are today.
Even if their next game is a "Fallout" game, it will still be be the next game from the makers of "Avowed" and "Outer Worlds."
