Here is a scenario.
You work a corporate job, you get offered another job that :
Pays more money
You work less
Allows you quality family time
Allows you a better mental health head space.
99 out of 100 people would take that offer.
Thats all Klaasen did. He put his and his families financial wellbeing and future at the forefront.
Yes playing for a country is an honour, but that honour should not come at the detriment of everything else in your life.

People make fun of KL by saying this is KL Rahul 7.0, 15.0 version etc
But in the last 2 yrs he is averaging 40+ in tests with more than 1300 runs.
In Odi cricket he has averaged 50+ for 5 years ever since he was shifted to no 5 in 2020 NZ series
Scored 500+ runs in IPL last season at no 4 and 3 with 150 SR
Striking at 185+ this season with more than 400 runs.
Been really good for more than 2-3 yrs now in all formats and most importantly has been consistent

Eshan Malinga has to be the most impactful player of this IPL season man, at least for me. Whenever he comes on to bowl, it just feels like he is HIM.

Klaassen competing with the opening batters at IPL 2026 with runs scored and strike rate, considering the match situation(pressure & having to build partnerships in the middle overs) and lack of fielding restrictions he has to deal with(5 out from start to finish), is absolutely ridiculous! Safe to say the man is in form👌

To see negative comments about Mayank Yadav today is horrifying. The kid nearly lost his career & livelihood at 21yrs. Just to see him play again is huge boost. The fact that he clocked 150kph again is a miracle. At 23yrs just pray for him that he stays fit. The control will come

Yesterday evening I wrote a post praising Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
In that post I mentioned that he was 15 years old.
I’d like to thank the many, MANY fans who took the time to correct that egregious error in the comments.
Despite major news outlets such as ESPN and the BBC reporting that he is 15, I bow to their superior knowledge.
He is clearly 34.

I don’t generally dabble in the IPL that much. Partly because it clashes with the County Championship, partly because I’m usually at work when it’s on and partly because I just can’t keep up with all cricket everywhere. There are also way more knowledgeable IPL Twitter pundits than me. So I mostly stay quiet. But, when I do watch, I usually watch RR. I even have an old RR shirt at home somewhere. What can I say? I like pink from my days as an 11 year old Bret Hart fan. I have to say, though, that this kid is making me sit up and pay attention. He only scored 39 today. No great shakes you may fairly say. But he scored 39 in 25 minutes off 14 balls, having hit 5 sixes. His strike rate was 278.57. He’s 15 FFS!!! I may have to buy a new RR shirt.
