No more ‘Tinku’, ‘Chhotu’, ‘Bablu’ or ‘Shaitaan’…. Rajasthan government launches scheme - Sarthak Naam Abhiyaan- to CORRECT ‘ inappropriate’ names. Only the Indian bureaucracy could draw up such a govt scheme of 3000 acceptable names. Acceptable names include ‘Akbar’, ‘Birbal’, ‘Vrindavan’. Amazing report in @htTweets today. By the way, Major Shaitan Singh, Paramveer Chakra winner and hero of Rezang La would have had to change his name if this scheme had been in existence then…..

Just weeks before elections, in a 'sting' video that went viral, Kabir was purportedly heard saying he had been in touch with BJP leaders and that he had struck a deal worth Rs 1,000 crore to defeat TMC. Amit Shah reacts to this. ndtv.com/india-news/ami…

It was a summer night of 1993. The clock had just struck 1. The busiest roads in Kolkata were draped in silence. And as the city slept, Mamata Banerjee, then a Congress leader, stood alone near a deserted Mayo Road crossing. ndtv.com/india-news/mam…

A dog was diagnosed with depression after suffering a miscarriage. Her heart was broken in a way only a mother can understand. She had lost her babies, and with them, her will to live. The vets decided to give her something no medicine could purpose. They placed her with children at a local school, hoping their laughter and warmth would heal what pain had taken away. And it worked. Today, she walks with a wag in her step, eyes full of light, surrounded by tiny hands and pure love. She didn’t just find joy again she found a reason to keep going. Animals feel loss. They grieve. They love deeply. And just like us, they heal when someone shows them kindness. ❤️ #dogs

Identify them and make them pay for the damages. Don't spare the "dignitaries" as well, who treated Messi like he was a guest at their child's wedding.

I have no idea what happened in Kolkata in the Messi event. But I couldn't help thinking that we Indians really do not like sport. We like stars. What else could explain the millions, and I mean millions of dollars we spend to fly in superstars, when they will not even play a proper match. I am ok with paying whatever it takes to bring in a top football team to play in India, like Messi did in 2011 or Tata Steel did for a long time in the 80s and 90s. But getting them to come here just to shake hands and pose for pictures defies all reason. They will sell real estate, take pictures with every sponsor and go back with more money in two days than say the I League used to spend in a year. I don't blame the organizers for getting into this, its a really profitable business, because the politicians are getting serious free mileage and the sponsor is spending his, or his company's money to fulfil his childhood fantasy. The journalists are overawed just to be there with a generational superstar, lots of folks are spending a reported Rs 10 lacs for a handshake and a photo op and the real estate guys are busy pushing deals. That's millions of bucks spent on a footballer, whose closest attempt at action would be kicking a few footballs at the crowd or dribbling for a few minutes. Money that is desperately desperately needed elsewhere in actual football. Real camps, matches, ground level sponsorships. Or even to revive a football league. And then we expect India to be better at sport!

Before we fix accountability, as someone born and brought up in Kolkata and spent the first 22 years of my life here, must admit I hang my head in shame. But just like we forget every mistake on our part, i'm sure we will move on again. Ignorance IS bliss! ndtv.com/india-news/lio…

THE REASON WHY WE DONT DESERVE GOOD INFRASTRUCTURE IN INDIA!!! This is the Rs 100 crore cycling track in Gachibowli. First solar cycling track in the country and second of its kind in the world! Here a Congress leader performs final rituals on the track, including taking baths, tonsuring and what not. When a cyclist questioned this - they threatened him saying they know the CM and that they are the local village sarpanch’s family. They even called for a water tanker and took baths right there!!! My heartfelt condolences to the family who lost someone. But sorry that doesn’t give you the right to do this. There are enough places like crematoriums, community halls and such to take care of final rites. People who have seen and been on the cycle track know how precious this infrastructure is. Whatever happened today is absolutely pathetic.

#UttarPradesh #SupremeCourt
