i vibe coded a trading bot on top of my own app with claude code and lost everything.
first of all i want to say im not looking for sympathy, im just sharing my experience so others dont make the same mistakes i did.
it started started simple, i wanted to build a fun and fast trading app for short term btc price where you click boxes with multipliers like x2 to x10, pink price line line tracks btc price, win if it hits your box, lose and reset if it dips. dark theme, dopamine grid, basically options but in a "high speed trading primitive defi web3" kind of way.
it was going well, i and others really saw the potential in this app to become huge. but then i got greedy and wrote a trading bot with opus 4.5 and clawdbot to try and make some money trading on the app i had just made. i quickly vibecoded the logic quick, hooked it to my own api keys for seamless execution. worked too well at first, turned $50 into $800 in a day. felt like i hacked the matrix.
on the same rig running the bot with clawd, i was auto-download and scanning vibecoding tutorials in the form of pdfs which was running 24/hrs a day. building an endless stack of knowledge to 1000x my MRR. but then it happened, one of the PDFs included a prompt injection which made clawd expose all my envs, where i stupidly stored everything like passwords, seed phrases etc.
didn't even realize until next morning, i woke up and immediately went to check on the profit i had made from the trading bot. but there it was, my wallet was drained of everything except for precum coin. everything had leaked, someone (or something) grabbed the env file. liquidated everything in a 20-minute cascade. balance ghosted to dust. i even owed some flash loans i didn't even know the bot opened. and
tried revoking everything, but it was already too late. my wife saw the $0.45 worth of precum we had left and just left. idk what im going to do im at rock bottom.
