The Terafab may give Optimus a brain & Cortex 2 may give Optimus his thoughts & intelligence, but he needs a body too, & massive progress is now underway on the graded foundation for the 10M/yr production facility here at Giga Texas!

ELON MUSK: “To reach a terawatt of compute per year, we need about 10 million tons to orbit annually. This is feasible—no new physics required—and I’m confident SpaceX can achieve it. We’re also scaling to a terawatt of solar for power. The remaining piece is a terawatt of compute, which is why we’re building Terafab.”

Elon Musk said something pretty incredible last night during the launch of TERAFAB:
"I expect the Humanoid Robots to be made 10-100 times more than the volume of cars. Vehicle production on Earth is about 100M/yr, and I expect Humanoid Robot production to be somewhere between 1-10B units/yr."

NEWS: Elon Musk has announced that Tesla and SpaceX will start with an advanced technology fab at Giga Texas.
"We will have all of the equipment necessary to make a chip of any kind. In a single building we can make a lithography mask, make the ship, test the chip, make another mask, and have an incredibly fast recursive loop for improving chip design. To the best of my knowledge, this doesn't exist anywhere in the world (all in one place)." - Elon

We all heard the announcement by @elonmusk about the new Advanced Technology Fab that will be built here at Giga Texas as the first step towards a future truly massive Terafab that will be building chips that will power @Tesla AI, Vehicles, Optimus robots a future AI Orbital Datacenter!
This is a fresh look at the construction site today and progress is already being made with the extension of River Road, some ground prep, removal of debris, demolition of structures & preparation to relocate all of the temporary workshops, materials, equipment & more!
This new Advanced Technology Fab will be ~2 million Sq Ft, which is about 1/5th that of the main factory, but the future Terafab will be over 100 million Sq Ft, or over 10X larger than the main factory here! What an amazing construction project all this will be to watch come to life!

TERAFAB: the next step to becoming a galactic civilization
Together with @SpaceX & @xAI, we're building the largest chip manufacturing facility ever (1TW/year) – combining logic, memory & advanced packaging under one roof.
To harness as much power as possible from the Sun, we need to send 100 million tons of solar capture into space – per year.
This requires massive scale.
– Capability to launch millions of tons of mass into orbit
– Solar-powered AI satellites
– Millions of @Tesla_Optimus robots to help build it out
All of these need chips: 100-200GW of chips for Optimus alone, plus terawatts for solar-powered AI satellites.
That's more than all the chip manufacturers in the world combined can provide today, or even by 2030 (based on projected production growth).

Cortex 2 at Giga Texas continues its rapid progress towards initial operation in April as confirmed by @elonmusk.
The approach being employed is to complete Part 1 of the Megapack, cooling system (augmented with temporary chillers) & half of the installed computer cabinetry & setup, then continue to complete the second half while continuing to expand the datacenter capabilities throughout the summer and into fall of 2026.
This illustrates the Agile and Minimum Essential Capability (MEC) methodology @Tesla uses with construction, production & product development to accelerate progress without waiting for the entire facility to be completed.
