@scottbelsky @signulll I think it's that whole outer ring that's currently in flux. The walls are falling down and I think builders need to scrap some major assumptions and dig into fresh user research and design experimentation to figure out how they deliver services going forward.
English

@signulll in this new model, apps are simply interfaces (funnels) for data intake, and the AI quickly becomes the default utility layer and eventually an intake funnel of its own.

in today's keynote, apple produced this really interesting graphic that ironically outlines the core mechanics for a new type of operating system (for perhaps a new class of devices).
you can see how this moves the world from an app based ecosystem to an intent centric world.
i.e. you roughly do not need third party applications in this world at all esp when ai has the ability to construct & deconstruct interfaces / experiences on demand.

For the first time yesterday, I experienced the new @alamodrafthouse QR code ordering system and I can tell you it’s truly awful. Rather than making ordering food and drink more efficient, it actually adds steps to the process AND if you want to order additional items during the film you HAVE to open your phone. No, your cute reference to that irony in your How To Alamo video doesn’t negate how ridiculous this is. Please don’t cut corners with your staff and revert back to physical menus and order cards.

@JoshuaBaer We should all be responsible for making sure society's resources are applied in such a way that serves everyone's needs. Billionaires just happen to have way more power. Thus way more responsibility. Stan Lee phrased it better.
English

@JoshuaBaer Paying appropriate levels of taxes so universal healthcare can be provided to all Americans.
English

@chasing That’s because we subsidize all of the surrounding schools. We have plenty of money.
What else should billionaires be responsible for besides education?

@GergelyOrosz Honestly I think it strongly depends on what genre of music you're into and why you're listening. Middle-of-the-road ambient or chillhop-style elevator music? Sure. Who gives a shit. You could auto-generate mounds of that stuff 20 years ago.
But if you care about music? No way.
English

I personally hate this idea of the future, even though investors poised to make $$$ from it love it and so obviously promote it.
I like that there are humans and bands behind the music I listen to and that for every song I listen on Spotify an artist gets some payment.

Lead investor of Suno confirming that people who use Suno stop listening to all music that they don't create themselves on-app. Commercial genAI creates cultural isolation, sold to consumers as "personalization."

@BillAckman Good evidence that it really needs to be a federal billionaire tax.

@Pinboard Billionaires are the biggest freeloaders around. Impossible to amass that amount of wealth without skimming significant value off the labor of many, many people.
English

If you expect other people to pay for you, and then get mad when they try to avoid it, you are still the freeloader in the situation.
Robert Reich@RBReich
Remember: The richest 1% evade over $160 billion in taxes every year. That amount would fund SNAP for a year with money to spare. Ask yourself who the real freeloaders are.

@aakashgupta "AI" is a weird way to abbreviate "single-payer healthcare system."

Just a reminder that killing children for no reason is on the table in the Trump administration.
Eric Feigl-Ding@DrEricDing
I’m saddest of all for the kids who soon may not get vaccines to save their lives from preventable diseases.

In the voting booth, women still have the right to choose. New and important ad from @VoteCommon featuring Julia Roberts reminds women that no one will know who they voted for. Pass it on.
