@cfcnewsroom @CelticFC @spfl O’Neill has no good options. We have some decent players out injured but a lot of dross available to play. We are clearly weaker than Rangers amd Hearts and I think we’ll end up behind both of them.
English

Yesterday’s game was a disaster, but I’m not blaming Martin—I didn’t agree with some of his substitutions, yet he can only work with the players available to him. The bigger issue is that too many of those players are simply incapable of making an impact, with Viljami Sinisalo being the only one who deserves pass marks. This ultimately comes down to poor recruitment and the board’s decisions, including the disastrous appointment of Nancy, followed by bringing Martin back when they should have stuck with him from the start. Looking ahead to Dundee after the international break, I honestly don’t think this squad is capable of getting a result, and as things stand, if we can’t beat a poor Dundee United side, then the title race is effectively over for us.
What is everyone’s thoughts 💭🍀

@StephenMather6 You won’t find a serious historian that puts this down to ‘incompetence and disinterest’ either. Ideology was at play here, both in terms of the laissez faire of the Whigs who were in office for most of the famine, and the deeply hostile anti-Irish views of many British officials
English

The Great Famine wasn’t a Genocide
And you won’t find a serious historian who says that it was
And it’s an urban legend that the Royal Navy exported food off the island
People constantly mistake incompetence & disinterest for intent
Irish Unity 🇮🇪🇵🇸@IrishUnity
An Gorta Mór - The Great Hunger To call this period in Irish history a famine dishonours the pain and untold suffering our ancestors endured. British warships took the food of our land for profit while our people starved. It was genocide.

@TheParkheadF There is nobody else can replace Maeda. We have one of the poorest forward lines in the club’s history. Maeda has contributed a lot to Celtic for 4 years but was due to be sold in the summer, then the plug was pulled - this is all on the board
English

How Daizen Maeda has remained in our starting XI week in, week out this season is beyond me.
From August up until now, he’s been absolutely diabolical. And yet for some reason, we constantly take our actual strikers off and leave Maeda up top when he’s in arguably the worst form of his career.
Our striking options are a massive problem, no doubt about it. But today, Kelechi Iheanacho while not outstanding was at least trying to link play, dropping in, playing quick one-twos and attempting to create something. If anyone in that abysmal performance looked like they might nick a goal, it was him.
And what happens? He’s taken off Maeda moves central and we’re left completely blunt up front again.
If Maeda isn’t running in a straight line, he offers nothing. He doesn’t beat a man, his delivery is poor, and his overall attacking output right now is nowhere near the level required.
I’m not a manager, but I genuinely can’t understand why Martin O’Neill keeps persisting with him. Yes, options are limited but I’d honestly rather see James Forrest play every week at this point.
For me, it’s clear now this can’t continue, and it feels inevitable that Maeda will have to move on in the summer.

@27Tawnyowl Britain was the sovereign power, and it could have solved this conflict in the early years.
But instead it chose to use its army to prop up a sectarian statelet.
Britain is to blame for this conflict

@1888Seamus @p_malkie @Celtic_365 Most of the players we’ve brought in during the last 2 - 3 seasons have been a waste of money, with some being utter garbage. The club is a joke from top to bottom.
English

@p_malkie @Celtic_365 That is grossly inaccurate.
Total staff costs for the year ended 30 June 2025: £74.8million.
This represents an increase of £9.2million (about 14%) from £65.6 million in the prior year (2024).
English

Whilst not making any excuses for what was yet another abject Celtic performance against Dundee United, the Tannadice pitch was an absolute disgrace.
By the looks of it, many of the Celtic team weren't sure whether to play football on it or to get out their buckets and spades and start making sandcastles.
If nothing else, the clip provided me with the opportunity to add the music of Squeeze and their classic hit 1978 hit "Take Me I'm Yours".
English

@aboutceltic Possibly the worst strike force in our history, I can’t think of a less effective bunch
English

@PaulJohnDykes @ACSOMPOD So many physically weak players, it beggars belief. I think that midfield might be the worst in the living memory of every Celtic supporter. I fear the worst for next season, so much needs to be done.
English

@TheParkheadF That only works if we buy better midfielders. None of the present crop are better than he is.
English

I’ve been saying this for some time on here and every time it gets brought up people take it as a personal attack either on the player or on themselves and it turns into pure aggression. But it needs to be said, especially if we’re talking about a serious summer rebuild/reset.
We have to talk about the Callum McGregor situation.
Callum has been an unbelievable servant to Celtic and a top class captain since Scott Brown passed the baton. His leadership, professionalism and consistency over the years have been outstanding no one is denying that.
But football doesn’t stand still.
Age catches up with every player, and for me that decline started to show last season and now it’s even more evident. The intensity, the sharpness, the influence on games just isn’t what it once was.
And this is the part people don’t want to hear.
If we are serious about progressing, he either needs to accept becoming more of a bit-part player, or we look at options elsewhere even if that means a move away, like linking up with Brendan Rodgers in Saudi.
That’s not disrespect that’s reality.
Too many fans watch football with their heart instead of their eyes. Sentiment can’t dictate decisions if we want to move forward as a football club.
Respect the legacy, absolutely but don’t ignore what’s right in front of you. 🍀

English

@henke_hoops The guy is completely done. Can’t run, can hardly move in fact. That midfield, I’ve never seen worse. Celtic supporters in their 80s or 90s probably haven’t either. Weak and weedy little men who get bounced all over the pitch by opponents they should be pissing all over
English

@henke_hoops DD deliberately chose not to strengthen. He is fine about Celtic winning nothing this season. He’ll be the same next season with whatever patsy takes this job. Rangers are not great but they’re better than us and are moving forward. Could easily be looking at years of this ahead.
English

@AshurOsnat @aziz0nomics ‘Of course we condemn such behaviour’
🤣
Your government doesn’t condemn it.
Neither do the 40% in the opinion polls that wholeheartedly support Smotrich’s illegal plan to expand the settlements, or the 50% who consider settlements to be important for Israel security.
English

@aziz0nomics Of course we condemn such behavior. The key difference is that while we are appalled by these crimes, the other side often celebrates and glorifies them. That is the fundamental gap between our societies
English

@chris_sutton73 @CelticStarMag We’ve been buying physically weak dross for years. That midfield is the weakest and worst I’ve seen in 50 years. In fact it might be one of the weakest in the club’s history, absolutely diabolical collection.
English

@silverburnunite @chris_sutton73 @l_rdfrodo We have zero physical presence in this side, it’s been a problem for years
English

@chris_sutton73 @l_rdfrodo Today performance, was mainly down to Martin team selection sadly? Pitches like that you need battlers, you need to play the way Unt played, move the ball from back to front, make defenders turn and chase the ball. Tippy tappy football as we played 2day,was never going to work
