Imagine a place so cold that it rarely ever goes above 0C, desolate, almost devoid of life, scarce of water, unbreathable air, where every day is a fight for survival. Mars is far, far more hostile than that. Why would anyone think it’s a place to go and colonise?

If I said there were certain people in the world whose brains aren’t wired to be told things Who have to sniff things out & explore themselves And critically this feels like an inherent ‘compulsion’ rather than a conscious process / trying to be awkward. Would it resonate?

I don’t think religion is the problem Dogma is a problem Intolerance is a problem The desire to prove religion is empirically ‘true’ is a problem But having something to believe in that gives meaning and hope and purpose strikes me as the most necessary thing of all

My take on the world on the day of the election. - people will catastrophise and say things will be a disaster one way or the other AND the world will then look much the same tomorrow We like to catastrophise things but mostly things stay mostly the same

We can all do a little bit better with our carbon footprint, I'm sure. But then again, for me, the neo-liberal focus on the individual serves to massively obscure what the big levers are in the fight against a warming planet...namely big businesses.
