@BamaSaltyMarine Will never happen. No country would try to invade, or if they do it would be the west coast.

Some days, my mind wanders back to a farm I managed in the eastern highlands of Zimbabwe in the late 80s. It was something special. We produced apples, peaches, pears, and kiwi fruit for local and export markets. We grew broccoli and cauliflower for the frozen veg market and did seed potatoes for a major contract. All on a large scale. Im talking about 1000s of tons of produce. We had a herd of Jersey cows for milking and made butter and cream. We plowed huge hectarage to grow maize, sweet potato, and vegetables for the farm workers. We had a junior school there with a headmaster and 5 classes. We had a clinic with a permanent nursing sister with meds and staff. We had a church with a pastor and a football team competing in provincial leagues. Every worker, 550 of them, lived in a brick home with electricity, running water, and a wood stove with unlimited firewood. There was a large store that provided everything from blankets to bicycles. There was a section of the farm dedicated to wildlife conservation. We had a proactive workers committee and had regular updates and meetings and professionally integrated management systems. We had huge refrigeration facilities and a modern pack shed with a fleet of trucks. The engineering division had everything it needed, including skilled workers to maintain a large estate. We had a beekeeping division, everything worked, and our people were cherished. We had adult literacy courses in the evenings at the farm hall and transport to functioning hospitals at any time of day or night. We had professional security services with a canine unit. A football field with a coach and smart uniforms and boots provided to the teams. The annual turnover was in the multiple millions, and the wage spend was huge, as was the tax bill. We spent millions on tractors, implements, fertilizers and fuels. Today, it is a village of subsistence level agriculture, all of it gone with hardly a memory of what was once there. Why?

@AsakeTerrorist In the Chinhoyi caves, Zimbabwe. There are very deep pools, always in the dark. A variety of catfish, totally blind, has evolved to survive in permanent darkness. Those fish, care about this than I do.

My heart truly wanted her to win, but my head told me she would be defeated by Donald Trump, not because Trump is a better candidate, but because she is black and a woman. Being black alone presents a significant challenge when running against someone like Trump in America. Being both black and a woman doubles that challenge, even black Africans were mocking her for being a woman, saying America can’t be led by a woman. It reflects the persistent hurdles and biases that women, particularly women of color, face in politics and leadership roles across the world. They get token positions so that men can say, “…what about so and so?” This election was not decided on policy but on emotional gut feeling, gaslighting and people’s fears like immigration and how Black immigrants from Haiti were eating their cats in Springfield, and promises made like in 2016. Americans were promised a wall to stop Mexican illegal migration in 2016, they never got a wall. Politicians always make excuses of why they couldn’t fulfill promises. Americans have chosen their next leader, and the consequences that follow are, sadly, not theirs alone but a global burden on all four corners of the world. Whoever runs America runs the world, spare a thought for Zelensky in Ukraine. In Israel, Netanyahu is celebrating. In Africa, dictators are pleased, but Trump does not care about Africa or Africans, after all. He called it a Shithole. To be fair on Trump, Biden didn’t really care either, African was not a priority. The greatest winner is Vladimir Putin, I can’t begin to imagine how happy he is that his ally is back in the White House. What does this mean for Zimbabwe? Emmerson Mnangagwa should be pleased. When I met with British politicians in August, they mentioned they were waiting for the American election to develop a coherent policy on Zimbabwe. Currently, the British embassy is focusing primarily on business and trade, with much less emphasis on hardline politics. The British (Labour Party) nightmare has materialised with Trump on the verge of victory. Zimbabweans should not expect any tough policies on Mnangagwa and ZANUPF. I am flying to Britain today, and I wonder how many people will need consoling, but that is politics. Zimbabweans will need to stand up and fight for themselves, Trump has more pressing issues on his agenda like the Middle East, Ukraine, trade with China, and political dealings with Russia. Zimbabwe? What Zimbabwe? Britain, now outside the European Union, finds itself isolated. That is why they were waiting for the American elections, they might as well admit Zimbabwe into the Commonwealth, something that now looks more imminent than before.

President Joe Biden has endorsed his Vice President, Kamala Harris, to be the Democratic candidate to go head to head with Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Unfortunately, if she runs, she will be crushed by Donald Trump. It will be a whitewash because she is not as popular as Trump! Trump’s team wanted Biden to stay in the race because he would be easy to beat. The Democrats will need a big hitter to take on the orange man not Harris! Donald Trump has a strong and dedicated base of supporters who have been with him since his 2016 election victory. It will take a strong and popular candidate to defeat him in the 2024 general election, especially given the current state of political polarisation in the U.S. So a Harris-Trump presidential election will go one way, Trump’s way.
