The core purpose of this post to examine what epistemic prerequisites are required in order to orchestrate cybernetic systems that are coherent with operational reality and thus capable of sensing, acting, and reevaluating as conditions change internally and in the real world 🧵

New post ✉ 'Designing Coherent Interfaces Between Cybernetic Systems and Socio-Technical Organisms' In it @che_coelho sketches a blueprint for coherent cybernetic interfaces to socio-technical organisms—optimising for coherence over omniscience. blog.arkology.studio/designing-cohe…

AI visioning of future worlds via graphics is cool for a second. I like the Solar Punk stuff. I’d really like to see people sketching out: - cultural models (Utopia takes) - what does language look like? How do people speak? Let’s push our imagination

This essay explores how we may technically and realistically achieve a system that can account for this necessary substrate, and thus augment the operational capabilities of a socio-technical organism (company, organisation, state (?))

Instead, a system can be optimised for coherence. This can be achieved by ensuring the systems operational substrate can account for entities, structured and semantic relationships, provenance and temporal state, as well as plural claims.

Noting that ofc this language is not a truth serum of our collective consciousness but just a stream of hauntings that (mainly) the west has inadvertently patterned across our digital landscapes

I’d like to study the outputs from large language models before any reinforcement learning. Hypothesis is that therein lies a protolanguage indicative of the aggregate of our general musings in this human project

@MattPirkowski And in this way, the innovation on a purely technical protocol lacks the metabolism to escape our cultural dynamics of greed and control

@MattPirkowski Agreed. I consider bitcoin extremely resilient within its technical boundaries, but the fundamental nature of a finite divisible asset means that the resource can be captured in virtue of its necessary interface with the existing economy

Bitcoin’s recent dynamics have me suspecting an institutional push to wring direct consumer investment out of the market, as they’d prefer a decreased proportion of key-holding, non-institutional (unmediated—by them) participation. This is perhaps Bitcoin’s most vulnerable attack vector, as large institutions will shift with regulatory winds, and would likely go along with a CBDC conversion (bailout) in a potential state-driven attack on supranational assets.

@rosseyre has distilled some very important patterns for building effectively with agents and how we can approach cybernetic generative systems from a living systems perspective.

New post ✉ 'From Prompts to Habitats: designing effective agents' In it, @rosseyre explores 'agentic AI' patterns through a living systems lens, including @drmichaellevin's concept of a 'cognitive lightcone', and Clark & Chalmers 'extended mind'. Enjoy! blog.arkology.studio/from-prompts-t…

@peterwildeford Weird example. I still see monocrops on both sides. The left is less efficient, and perhaps at best less crude, but any grounded knowledge steward knows there is a third image that is a food forest / commons is the ideal to strive towards. Ontoshift deeply needed

A lot of people think automating knowledge work will look like the left side, but I think it will look like the right side

And as a result we offhand discovery and match making to opaque, externally defined, and crudely oriented algorithms that do not optimise for syntropy.

Perhaps the only solvent to the dystopian seemingly inevitability of this is for us to hold sovereignty over our relational extensions. Of course the pathways towards this are well defined by technologies and protocols such as @Holochain or NOSTR
Ché Coelho@che_coelho

I’m excited and scared of the possibilities for using AI for match making. This applies to almost any industry, and acts as an algorithmic overlay to all social and economic interactions. It is also the next phase in Delusian Societies of Control - the algosphere or something

But the cultural shift is undeniably important. We need to agree firmly that we value our relationality. Western culture tends to place more emphasis on “the node” than “the edge”. Unfortunately, this leaves us powerless when it comes to governing our own configurations.

I’ve started to actively avoid watching tv series (not that I spent much time on them before) but I realised I stopped appreciating cinema in the last five years or so and I have come to attribute that to the format of “unending” series that don’t optimise for art

🧵 Here's how a 2-person team shipped an AI Agent for South African law firms in under 4 months (part-time) — and how we used AI to build it.

@normonics @ebarenholtz I think the categories are a bit off. Are we building AI ? Yes - if AI is the tool or its isolated infrastructure / product. Is AI building itself? If we shift our category to understand AI in terms of a set of logics, memetics, and impulses we converge on? Then yes, latter.

@ebarenholtz I would say the former because without us it would not be able to continue to build itself Seems like the mark of true agency is that a final cause can continue to drive action even as the available means change
