Today in Cheap Trick history: 4 May – (2007) Cheap Trick performed at the Railroad Reservation Park in Birmingham, Alabama, on a bill with Hinder and Akon. The band performed a 17-song set that included “Oh Candy”, “Welcome to the World”, “Come On Come On Come On”, “Best Friend” and “If It Takes a Lifetime”.

Today in Cheap Trick history: 3 May – (1987) Touring in between “The Doctor” and “Lap of Luxury” albums, the band performed at Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, New Hampshire.

Today in Cheap Trick history: 2 May – (1998) Cheap Trick performed the entire “In Color” album at The Metro in Chicago. This was the third of the famed four night run of album shows at this venue. The evening saw Chicago’s worst-kept secret – the Smashing Pumpkins opened the show, and Billy Corgan, D’Arcy Wretsky and Kenny Aronoff all made appearances later during Cheap Trick’s set, most notably Corgan who was dressed as a Rick lookalike. “Mandocello” with Corgan can be heard on the “Music For Hangovers” album.

Today in Cheap Trick history: 1 May – (2013) Cheap Trick performed “Surrender” on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”. This appearance was the night after their show at the El Rey in Los Angeles which celebrated the 35th anniversary of the 1978 concerts at the Budokan. Today in Cheap Trick history: 26 Apr – (2002) The band performed at Camber Sands Holiday Center in Sussex, England, at the “All Tomorrow’s Parties” festival. This was the second weekend of the festival and Cheap Trick’s second appearance, having previously performed on 21 April. The festival was curated by Shellac, whose line-up included Steve Albini.

Today in Cheap Trick history: 21 Apr – (2007) With a crowd of 24,000 in attendance at Dolphin Stadium, Miami for the Florida Marlins baseball game against the Washington Nationals (the home team won 9-3), Cheap Trick performed the postgame concert as part of the Marlins’ “Super Saturday” promotion series.
