@sreshthx I've heard of card skimming, but I never knew they could do this by just being in range of you. My cousin gifted me a RFID blocker wallet recently, glad I'm using that now.

the day before the scam incident, I was at a busy location on College Street buying a cig, when I noticed two guys casually standing nearby. I took out my wallet to give cash but while I was putting it back inside my back pocket, I could see one of the guys telling the other about my action while both were eyeing my wallet. One of them came close to me at the same time, so I turned around and eyeballed them for long enough that they left after a few seconds. But my mistake was that I thought they were pickpockets. Instead they actually had a machine in their pockets that could clone card details if they were close enough to it and for a long enough duration. Good thing it was a non OTP transaction, which allowed for a refund. Be safe all.

Last week, my HDFC debit card got scammed for around 12K. No OTP involved, and it was a gift card transaction from the USA. HDFC have refunded the money today but wanted to share how it happened:
