@amy_mulv Hey Amy - These are the only materials used. My students had inquired into the various forms of coding, read up to the part of the book where they are about to escape, and then I used a Google Form to survey which "type of escape" from The City of Ember would most interest them.

Students making predictions through code! Currently reading City of Ember with my G4 students. How might Doon and Lina escape? #Sphero to draw a map that can be replicated? A flashlight with #littlebits? A vehicle with #hummingbird? Results will come in December!

"Through the unit, I can ..." rubrics. Co-constructing these with teachers and students has helped teachers move away from end-of-unit "summative assessments" and put more emphasis on what the learner was able to know, do, and understand throughout the unit.

Ss brought coding back to the basics today with some offline coding. Groups of three: one says the code, one records it, one acts as the robot. Working together to "code" the robot to stack cups.
