CNN's @clarissaward becomes the first Western journalist to independently gain access to Gaza by entering an Emirati field hospital. Her first full piece is embedded in this post. You can't claim the IDF vetted and controlled her footage, nor can you claim that she was in a Hamas-controlled environment. Clarissa joined doctors at the field hospital set up by the government of the United Arab Emirates. The same UAE government so many of you have been correctly noting in the past weeks as a government dedicated to stamping out extremism. A government that despises Hamas and would welcome its demise. Clarissa reports that Emirati doctors are overwhelmed by the number of children they’re treating. In previewing this report, Clarissa described what she witnessed as "harrowing, chilling, and sobering. You get an absolute sense of the horrors that have been taking place in Gaza. This hospital was filled with the youngest victims of this war. Children who have been disfigured, who are in full body casts, and who are covered in burns." After an Israeli military strike occurs nearby just moments after she arrives, an older man and a child with missing limbs are rushed in by paramedics.
