@e_boros I’ve never made it to a GRC for these reasons (and more).

The worst is the complete inability to go to GRCs. GRCs of a topic area you’re looking to get into is an amazing way to get immersed and get a crash course of the field. But 5+ days is impossible with a 3 and 1 year old. I’m just gonna read papers and see you in 2026. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 2/2

When you’re a young parent without help with childcare because you live 2000+ miles from family, but you’re also academic who’s focused on staying on the cutting edge, something’s gotta give. For me, it’s meetings and extensive travel. Basically: no conferences. 1/2
