Sabonis could have a rib fracture but more likely a bone bruise/contusion of the rib after Draymond stomped his chest. He will need some time for the swelling to dissipate but likely will play game 3. Draymond on the other hand… suspension?

Brock Purdy likely has a complete tear if his UCL. If so, will have to undergo Tommy John Surgery and will be out for a year. Sucks. Wishing him the best in his recovery.

My take from the Damar Hamlin news conference by UC 1No new injuries or diagnosis means that Commotio Cordis is the very likely dx. 2Only 1 round of CPR and 1 shock is an extremely good sign. 3Planning discharge home means a meaningful recovery. 4 option to return to nfl is open

Commotio cordis is extremely rare. If all or studies are negative and Demar Hamlin has it, this is likely the first case playing football. All others were typically associated with baseballs, puck, martial arts, etc. Force required typically upwards of 40mph in small impact area

@cherrychick124 @trader_drunken Trying to provide a hopeful outlook as this scenario has happened in sports before and athletes like Chris Pronger have gone on to play 12 years. Physicians are asked to prognosticate the future to give insight to what this could mean for patients.

For those concerned about Damar Hamlin’s future in the NFL. If this is Commotio Cordis, unlucky hit to the chest at the wrong millisecond, his career is not necessarily over. He will need undergo testing and a cardiac monitoring for weeks. Likely out for the season.

@WhoisTylerFrey I agree. He is intubated and has a pulse. Those are good signs. His mom is with him. Those are amazing signs that his life is not currently in grave danger.
