At one point in college, I had an obese roommate. After a few weeks, she complained about how lucky I was to be thin, since I ate more than her. The thing is, however, that I absolutely did not eat more than her, in terms of calories or just amount of food. She put ranch on everything. 600 calorie drinks. Endless snacking. Maybe my plate was more full than hers at dinner, but it was obvious tp everyone but her that she was consuming more throughout the day. I'm sorry, but after multiple instances of this happening with other overweight people, I just don't trust when someone heavy insists they're in caloric deficit. Maybe some people lose weight faster than others. For sure. But it's simple science that if calories out exceed calories in, you WILL lose weight.

All the discourse around SNL UK is already so miserable & overwhelming negative. It’s exhausting. HOW can so many have so much to say about something which hasn’t aired an episode yet? I’m also certain nobody will allow the cast the grace of a few episodes to find their feet.

I feel sorry for the SNL UK cast members. No up-and-coming comedian is going to turn down a regular TV gig, but if this turns out to be the world-historical fiasco it looks like being, their names will be attached to it forever, which is a horrible thing to have hanging over you.

Even if this is true and she sent a human-authored manuscript to an editor who used AI…if you’re letting your editors rewrite your manuscript without your approval and not checking their work, you’re doing it very wrong

Ideally, yes. But some publishers get a hard-on when the "author" is a young woman of colour and "is passionate about writing stories focused on feminine rage." It's weird that they chose to ignore all the red flags even outside of the "writing," like having two novels and a novella self-published in a 4-month span out of nowhere, and which featured gen AI covers.
