The Cologne Cathedral is one of the largest Gothic churches in Northern Europe and its two huge spires give it the largest façade of any church in the world.
Construction of Cologne Cathedral began in 1248 but was halted in the years around 1560, unfinished. The project was completed to its original Medieval plan in 1880 — taking over 600 years to construct.
