I have my own problems with Trump, but my fundamental frustration with much of the Catholic hierarchy on political matters is summed up in this clip here. It seems to me that the problem is that too many Church leaders do, in fact, want to be politicians, they just don't want the responsibility of wrestling with the real-world compromises that politics entails. Leo has been more than willing to address political controversersies around war and immigration in particular, painting those he disagrees with as violating Christ's teachings. He cannot then get offended when those who he directs that message to take offense to the characterization. And it is not fair to the rest of us, and not being a good shepherd at that, to tell us "you're doing it wrong and risking your soul," without giving more specific guidance on how we should do better. It is fundamentally cowardly to retreat back to the line of "Oh I'm just a humble servant of God"

The Pope is a dope here. Sorry, Catholics—you don’t own the Bible, and it’s rarely read at Mass. In Buffalo, your flock is still paying for the sins of the priests. Churches are closing, and individuals are leaving for completely or joining other faiths. Millions of unborn children are slaughtered each year, yet the Pope rails against Trump, who has done more to protect life than any other American president.

@megbasham he is mocking the Catholic Church leadership. not Christianity and Christians. the Catholic Church deserves mockery for its hypocrisy with regards to any moral standards they claim to have.

I don’t know if the President thought he was being funny or if he is under the influence of some substance or what possible explanation he could have for this OUTRAGEOUS blasphemy. But he needs to take this down immediately and ask for forgiveness from the American people and then from God.
