Hi all! I have a new article out! I introduce privilege diffusion—a rhetorical strategy that disperses blame on to vague forces like “culture” or “masculinity,” that appear critical but ultimately obscure responsibility for those with privilege. doi.org/10.1111/soc4.7…

🚨NEW PUB🚨 In this article, my friend-colleagues and I suggest that rather than thinking about police contact as direct officer-civilian interactions (temporally constrained), we might view and measure it as PERPETUAL (1/4)

Something I think a lot of scholars don't understand: the more generalist the journal, the more generalist a given article's appeal is supposed to be. What does this mean? 1/

@chiarapack The other thing I do now is circulate chunks or ask students to send me their papers in chunks. I can write a lot of comments on an intro or methods section and get it back quickly, but I slow down for a full paper. So iterative development is quicker (and less overwhelming).

One of the best ways to increase your chances of a successful peer review: circulate your paper to trusted colleagues in the relevant (theoretical, empirical, disciplinary, topical) field(s) BEFORE submitting to a journal. Aim for at least three readers. Plan to revise.
