We designed and facilitated a 2.5h multi-stakeholder workshop aimed at cooperatively assessing the impact of FRTs. This work would not have been possible without the amazing Julia Katharina Pfeiffer. Many thanks also to @hohendanner, Jens Grossklags, and all workshop participants

The #AIAct's bans on unacceptable uses will start to apply next Feb. But the enforcement provisions, including the fines, will only start to apply in Aug 2025. That means the bans' application will be left to private litigation for the first 6 months. content.mlex.com/#/content/1586…

The discussions on prevailing AI narratives in current local discourse and the collective effort organizing the #GlobalAIDialogues have been truly inspiring. Looking forward to tomorrow's #GlobalAIDialogues session in Lagos. 😊

Over the past two weeks, @hohendanner and I have been working intensively in both remote and in-person meetings to cooperatively prepare for the two upcoming #GlobalAIDialogues. Some impressions from our in-person meeting in Tokyo in the picture above.

👉 Comparing 12 different nationalities across the world, we show that genAI and FPT are differently adopted and perceived by laypeople from different countries. Their local experiences and perceptions must be considered when developing AI policies and measures.

It was such a pleasure participating in this year's European Workshop on Algorithmic Fairness #EWAF2024. ☀️ @hohendanner, Jens Grossklags, and I presented the initial results of one of our recent projects on #crossnational perspectives on #genAI and #FPT.

Today, the European Commission revealed some details on the AI Office. It is essentially a repackaging of the old AI directorate. The Director will remain Lucilla Sioli. There will be five units for a total of 140 people - 80 of which still have to be recruited. 🧵 1/5

We find: Participants evaluate inferences epistemically, pragmatically, and technologically. Each inference (group) is subject to a particular justification profile. Perceptual differences are specific to inference and context.
