As a trader, I still struggle to get out of my own way. I've sacrificed WAY too many high-probability 1R take-profits for low probability, risky 3R take-profits. Why? Pure greed and being too attached to the feeling of being MORE right than wrong. All so I can say-> my winners are bigger than my losers. Result: Instead of taking home more guaranteed 1R wins, consistently, I try to lean on inconsistent wins for bigger R which often turn to losses, stop me out at BE, or I have to watch them round-trip from 4R+ to 2R+-> which is where I'm forced to close out of psychological pressure The game really is all about psychology, following rules, and getting out of your own way.

THIS IS WHAT IT TAKES For years I’ve been working with a trader at @smbcapital. He’s been trading for FOUR YEARS without making a paycheck. Nice guy, hard worker, diverse skillset. Shows up with a smile. He’s been living in NYC on $900 rent, doing whatever it takes to extend his runway to make it at this job. He’s on a team that has helped him expand his playbook. As of this month, he made back all his desk fees and is getting his first paycheck! Not only that, this year’s success has been a feedback loop of increased confidence and increased risk limits for him. This week he had an $80,000 trade! You will never see on Twitter or on Instagram, someone bragging that they haven’t made money for four years. That they live in NYC on $900 rent (trust me, that ain’t gona have a 3-car garage w green Lambos). But that is the reality for so many out there. This job is REALLY FUCKING HARD! Most of the market still reads the headlines upside-down. Think back to previous escalation like the Russia‑Ukraine conflict or even Covid: People called for full-blown recessions and WW3. ETF approvals? Barely an accurate call. Tariffs? Everyone drew the wrong takeaway. Now this war - you’re getting the same noise. Don’t get swept up. Bears and Bulls can fight all they want on low time frame ideas but you need to Trade with clarity. Especially in a macro sense. Some sort of Macro insight could help you with cold hard data and results, maybe something proven that traders with a real edge can provide. There is plenty of alpha readily available, filter and create your own bias. Don't flip-flop your bias or ideas, instead form your own opinions based on data and your results will be 10x better. Never hold onto ideas too long, create easy invalidations for them. Too many people need others to think for them.
