@jarradstrain @JoelBSperanza Maths Pathways works on a mastery basis. One of the best I have seen. Comprehensive testing, fortnightly teaching cycles, includes enriched applications of maths and individualised learning paths. You even get a school consultant for support.

Why do so many schools stream their maths classes? The research I've seen doesn't seem to support this idea at all.

@aliceleung Ive always found anything new can take a long time to do. Also, when it comes to making videos, to quote @JoelBSperanza we are making Sharknado not Avatar. Worry less about mistakes and re-editing and give the kids what they need to know.... This model also came to mind

I just want to note that creating videos take a long time. A very long time compares to face to face teaching.

@KenRHerbert Same issues mate. I am going to suggest to students to access one note during off peak times. My hyperlinks still won't work during school hours but.

At school: OneNote crashed (again) b4 6:30am. The Learning Place crashed yesterday. SharePoint crashed. WiFi outages intermittently. Spent huge hours setting up my videos & everything & now being asked to email shit to students! Will my MS Teams PD even run on our platform today?

Wasn't going to attend #RESCON2019... looked at the program and thought... I'M IN!! Brining 5 staff along for the ride too.

So this year I'm helping a small group of teachers flip a grade 10 course... 75ss, 3ts & 1 TA in one space. Had good days & poor days. So much reflection going on in my head, but I remind myself to breathe and persist #staystrong

@cmcaton I try to purposefully wear a clashing outfit some days. A quote from my mentor teacher when I was a prac student, 'respectfully, I will not take fashion advice from a maths teacher.'... I thought, fair point 🤔

What habits are you trying to form to help in 2019? I'm trying to pick all my outfits once each week to save time each morning. I've cleared a spot in my closet to put the weeks outfits each weekend. Do you have a uniform? Deciding what to wear is always painful for me. :)

Had an awesome two days with the leadership team at our school (principal, deputies, HOD's, GO & BSM). Our presenters were experienced, engaging and gave us soo much stuff to help us develop and become better leaders.

Cleaning my desk to move schools is a big (and disgusting) job. I think I'm a hoarder. Logical brain knows I won't go and sort / scan hard copy resources but I keep them anyway 😑 I'm such a minimalist at home too..

@JoelBSperanza @anfield1974 @cmcaton I believe you're allowed to do integrals first. You have to stick to the unit order but the topics can be done in whatever order you choose. I.e you could do 3.3 (integrals) first then come back & do 3.1 (log functions) & 3.2 (further differentiation). Maybe check with @QCAA_edu

Except that in Qld it runs at 2pm and so I (once again) miss part of a class cos they let the kids watch. We get enough interruptions as it is. When will I get a full week of class time?
