Combining resistance training with ≥1.6 g/kg/day protein led to 27% more lean mass and 10% more strength vs. lower protein controls (~0.8–1.2 g/kg/day). 76% of studies in this meta analysis only ran 8–12 weeks. Now imagine those gains compounded over decades. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC89…

@BioLayne Well after I got my CGM I discovered it does spike mine hard. I process it and sucralose nearly like sugar. The only sweetener that didn't was stevia. I had an A1C of 13. I got down to after 6 months 5.4.

Aspartame spikes insulin? 🚨 New meta-analysis says nope. This new paper (Boxall et al., 2025, Adv Nutr) looked at 100 human experiments on aspartame’s effects on glucose, insulin, and appetite hormones. Here’s the breakdown: What they found: •Aspartame doesn’t meaningfully spike glucose or insulin compared to water/placebo or other sweeteners.

•Compared to sugar → aspartame actually reduced glucose & insulin responses in acute settings.

•Appetite hormones? Very little effect overall; not enough evidence to claim it alters hunger or intake in a consistent way.

•Across medium & long-term studies: same pattern. Few effects, mostly neutral, but lots of study variability → low certainty overall.

 What it means:
If you’re replacing sugar with aspartame, it’s much less likely to mess with your glucose or insulin. It’s not a magic health food, but the scary insulin-spike claims? Not supported by data. TL;DR:
Aspartame ≠ insulin villain. When it replaces sugar, it looks neutral — not harmful the way some make it out to be.

NEW — Dr Marty Makary Announces a Potential Treatment for Autism “Autism may also be due to an autoimmune reaction to a folate receptor on the brain, not allowing that important vitamin to get into the brain cells … One study found that with kids with autism and chronic folate deficiency, 2/3 of kids with autism symptoms had improvement, and some marked improvement.”

@BioLayne @ParadigmNYC Anecdotal evidence, while weak, is still evidence and certainly not always placebo. Studies on less than 200 people can hardly claim to be a slam dunk on these questions and I’d take someone’s personal experience as a better indicator for them

Is Coke Zero worse than regular Coke? 🤔 Surprisingly… no. In fact, it’s way better. ✅ When diet sodas replace sugar-sweetened drinks, people lose weight and improve metabolic health. (PMID: 35285920) ❌ Claims about Coke Zero wrecking your gut or making you crave more? No human evidence supports that. •Gut microbiome: A randomized, double-blind crossover trial found no changes with aspartame use (PMID: 33171964). A recent review also concluded that aspartame and Ace-K typically do not impact the microbiome in human RCTs (PMID: 37111090).

•Cravings & intake: A meta-analysis showed switching to diet beverages instead of sugar sweetened beverages help people consume fewer calories and even lose more weight than switching to water (PMID: 26365102).

So yes — Coke Zero > regular Coke. Credit to @glucosegoddess for calling that right 👏 … but the “gut and cravings” claims don’t hold up in humans. 👉 Do you drink diet soda, or skip soda altogether?

First it was fake meat, now fake butter? Why should we eat meat and butter replacements instead of the real thing? These frankenfoods are generally made from synthetic additives that are toxic and harmful to our gut if consumed daily. When is this going to stop? EAT REAL FOOD!!! Do you agree?

I don’t see anyone saying calories don’t matter, I see them saying counting calories is often unnecessary if you focus on food quality / nutrient density first (and avoiding ultra processed crap). And usually these are people who do a lot of work with women and see first hand how easily counting calories can turn into obsessing over calories and disordered eating
