@biryaniandraita @eventinverse Yeppp it’s all rooted in some dumbass insecurities you usually only see in poorly socialized, maladjusted people that unfortunately makes up a solid chunk of the gatekeeping, purist side of the tolkien fandom 💀 And also well most men in fandom.

@eventinverse @chiefadversary This!!! Which also tracks if you look at the political leanings of most of the fandom (it’s a study in irony, if nothing else 😂)

he looked an utter mess, scabbed and wearing rags, left a bunch of people to die 5 mins earlier…. And he still barely had to say more than a few words before she was like “🥺 omg we’re like…. the same”

@biryaniandraita there’s a stubborn effort to read him so flatly too because it’s all part of downplaying his relationship with gal lol. can’t allow anything genuine to have occurred between them because that would make Galadriel exceptional to him and well we can’t have that

@chiefadversary People just can’t look beyond their restricted black and white views when everything points towards Sauron being a highly complex character especially at this stage when he’s still consolidating power and slowly losing the battle of retaining some form of humanity

@biryaniandraita ☝️☝️ really frustrates me that there’s insistence that his every word and action was calculated too when it’s not rationally supported by onscreen evidence or story/character logic. and it’s just not interesting to read all his behavior that way. It flattens everything!

@chiefadversary The craziest bit being that he wasn’t even manipulating her….he really did mean what he said even if he was skirting around the specifics

Lately I think they let wyle too much into that writers room compared to s1 and that’s the root of all the problems the show has now

just pmo because this was my favorite dynamic of the show in s1 and was rich with potential (and still is) but it’s all for nothing if Robby is the only part of the equation the writers care about (or that APPARENTLY none of his hypocrisy and misogyny towards her is on purpose)
bog affleck ☁️@bogbodied

thinking abt how robby’s cruelty to samira could have served the story if they were willing to examine the effects of racism and misogyny in every part of healthcare INCLUDING EDUCATION since this is a TEACHING HOSPITAL but haha no worries bro let’s hear more about that sick bike

villain hate is annoying when it’s not done out of critique but by moralists who just wanna circle jerk to their fav being a better person. “my shayla would NEVER” does your shayla want a cookie

it’s maybe a careful balancing act he should have been going for instead of saturating s2 with robby angst to supposedly improve his odds (not to mention not impulsively firing beloved actresses when they start to make robby unintentionally unlikeable ☕️)

@chiefadversary It’s what “saved” him. Pulling a baddie at rock bottom did wonders for his self-confidence

always roll my eyes at the nerd bros who want this to have been all an act, as if Sauron could’ve anticipated that the key to winning galadriel was to take the form of an openly rude low man at rock bottom. Can we just accept that he *was* at rock bottom and she wanted him anyway

@shairondriel @GaladrielsHal @SAURONLOTR_ I was afraid in s2 that the writers were too skittish to let them have a proper conversation again because there’s only so many ways to dance around what’s emotionally between them lmao. a fight scene convo allows them to cut corners and keep dialogue as short/vague as possible
