Im wrestling with the realization that literacy is built on the public's belief about what is "good enough" for children... especially other people's kids. Its not a rubric, it's ethics. Do we have a duty to our neighbors' kids? I'm still wrestling with this.

I’m still trying to process how books and literacy have become a political issue. Why is it not a human rights issue? Are we so divided that we can’t agree all children deserve to read and have access to content that resonates with them? What are we doing?
