During the incident, shots were fired by two deputies and the driver was struck. Deputies immediately provided first aid; however, lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful and the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Had breakfast with deputies working north county today. These guys cover a national park, the boundary waters, an international border, some of the largest mines in the USA in over 5,000 miles in their rugged area. I am so thankful for them and the important work they do!

**Evacuation Order for the Three Lakes Road/ Munger Shaw Road Fire** Due to fire movement residents south of Comstock Road, west of Upper Bug Lake Rd, East of Lily Lake, and North of Wood Tick are to evacuate safely out of the area.

A public hotline has been established by the United States Forest Service for questions about Camp House or Jenkins Creek fires 218-206-6805 The Forest Service is the lead agency in handling these fires.

We will be briefed on the fires from the DNR and National Forest Service at 7 AM and will provide an update as soon as can.

A third large fire is burning currently on both sides of Munger Shaw Road south of Three Lakes Road moving quickly in a northern direction. Residents in the east half of Cotton Township including Morley Beach Rd, Elde Road and surrounding areas should evacuate.

Evacuation update: Due to rapidly evolving fire conditions, residents on the west side of Highway 44 from Indian lake to Breda lake are to evacuate to the south for their safety. Evacuees can go to the Friedenberg Township community center located at. 5104 Fish Lake Road

We have a second large wildfire that is located off of Town Line Rd (Hwy 16) near Hwy 110. One structure has been engulfed. Crews are on scene. This is a differentnt fire than the Camp House Rd (Brimson) fire.

Attended the First Witness Spring Splash event tonight and saw St. Louis County Board Chair Annie Harala and First Witness Executive Director Tracie Clanaugh. First Witness Child Advocacy Center is a cornerstone in our region, providing hope, healing, and justice for children.

Due to high winds we currently many trees down on roadways and power lines down throughout the county. If you see a power line down, stay away from it and call 911

Car vs. a large cow moose on Hwy 53 just north of the 169 split. The driver of the car is being checked out by first responders and their current medical condition is unknown. Sadly, the moose did not survive.

Productive day at the Capitol with my fellow sheriffs. Hope we can turn the tide on some of the pro-criminal laws from the last few years. The cornerstone of justice is accountability!
