If you’re looking to get into self-publishing RPG material in 2019, here’s my advice - your art is the most important part of your product. A lot of designers have a writer’s skill set, and see art as the last thing they consider. Don’t fall into that trap.

@DaddyRolleda1 I only started playing in the late 80s, and my DM had every single book, so I caught all the complexity, all the tables, etc.
Half the time playing it was him with his face buried in a book while the rest of us oogled his VW magazine collection.

I made this week’s video because AD&D began to feel different in the mid-1980s. Unearthed Arcana, Oriental Adventures, & the Survival Guides did more than just add more material. They also got players changing what they expected the game to be able to do.

I was a total latchkey kid.
Explored the forests.
Traveled the entire town on my bike.
Spent lots of time hanging out in abandoned buildings and other kid's basements.
It was an interesting upbringing.

Dear Gen X, I’ve been watching 80s movies and I just need to know…WHERE WERE YOUR PARENTS?? Every child was just wandering the earth unsupervised like a raccoon with house keys. Riding bikes across town at midnight, fighting ghosts, investigating murders, befriending cryptids, hacking government computers for funsies… And the parents were ALWAYS “out of town” or “working late” while the only adult-adjacent supervision was some random 16-year-old who got dragged into the chaos. No cell phones. No helmets. No adult supervision. Just vibes, life lessons, and several near-death experiences. You all weren’t “raised.” You were lightly monitored feral creatures with a bike and unresolved trauma. I’m genuinely shocked there are enough of you left to populate an entire generation.
