@daojus From my POV, Kochi needs a major 2 Semi ring road 1. Existing planned, Angamaly to Aroor and extending from Angamaly to Kodungaloor. This will provide breathing space for the Aroor to Paravoor and Edapally to Angamaly stretches.

To fix this, GoKL must build at least 3 major ring roads plans that have been in discussion since 2017–18. Example: Cherthala to Kakkanad takes 1 hr 15 min for just 45 km (off-peak) same for Chalakkudy to Kakkanad. If we can't cut that to 40 min, what's the point of this topic ?

But need more to become a Tier 2 city

Thrissur has a larger GDP than Thiruvananthapuram despite lower population but it never gets brought up in metropolis conversations.

@TrivandrumMetro Thodupuzha parts from Idukki, Kottayam Etunammur vaikom parts from Kottayam, region between ekm and Alleppey city can be merged , Kodungalor , Chalakkudy etc regions can be also merged easily and in future Thrissur can be a sub urb may be after some decades when Kochi Hits limits

We won't have enough land to extend, expand or build another High-speed rail after 40-50 years ... So it is better to think at least for the next 50+ years

Let's hope Kochi Metropolitan Planning Committee (MPC), Kochi Metropolitan Development Authority (MDA) & Kochi Metropolitan Transport Authority (KMTA) are steps in that direction. Cities are the economic engines of any region, and they must be getting special treatment
