As of Jan 1, I’ve retired as CEO of FAH—but not from health policy. I’m simply shifting platforms, taking on new challenges, and finding new ways to make a difference. Starting Feb 25, I'll be contributing as a:    ➡️ Visiting Sr. Fellow @AEI  ➡️ Sr. Fellow @KFF (hosting a new podcast)  ➡️ Scholar @USCSchaeffer  ➡️ Helping launch a new institute @TulaneSPHTM    Here’s to 2026: new ideas, more writing, & a podcast mic instead of policy memos. Stay tuned!

The health security of working families will be threatened if Congress fails to extend the health care tax credits before open enrollment on November 1. Premium notices are being sent, and Americans’ costs will go up if Congress does not act now. ➡️Time is of the essence: protect working families, keep costs down, and extend the health care tax credits. fah.org/blog/americans…

Enhanced tax credits are the critical puzzle piece to keeping coverage affordable for millions of Americans. On the latest Hospitals in Focus, I talk with @larry_levitt of @KFF about what’s at stake for working families if Congress fails to act.

It was an honor to attend the 2025 @ARC_Innovation_ Summit in Israel last week and speak on the changing climate which may affect HealthTech innovation in America. The biggest takeaway: the opportunities are evolving though remain vast.

Insurers are costing Americans billions of health care dollars without improving care, and No Surprises Act IDRs show that. IDR disputes are necessary because insurers have long failed to pay doctors and hospitals the fair cost of needed care, and billions of dollars identified in this article simply reflect what should have been paid for services without a lengthy and expensive process in the first place. In their new Forefront article, Jack Hoadley and Kennah Watts of @GtownCHIR discuss how the independent dispute resolution (IDR) system has added at least $5 billion to overall health system costs since its inception, prompting the question of whether steps should be taken to reduce IDR use and the size of the awards and what policy levers are available. healthaffairs.org/content/forefr…

The “phantom enrollees” debate is a distraction & robust program integrity measures in place make the issue yesterday's news. The need is too great & the issue too important to base the extension of tax credits debate on an outdated concern. For more➡️fah.org/blog/moving-be…

60 years ago today, Medicare and Medicaid brought peace of mind & a new era of access to medical care to millions. Today, we must reaffirm our promise to care for the most vulnerable so Americans continue to get the care they expect & deserve. fah.org/blog/fah-state…

“It cannot be overstated – the health cuts passed by Congress today represent the largest cuts to care our country has ever seen. Members of Congress will have to revisit this calamity to mitigate the effects on their constituents and communities..." fah.org/blog/fah-slams…

I strongly support extending the tax relief for families and small businesses. My vote against this bill stems primarily from the harmful impact it will have on Medicaid, affecting low-income families and rural health care providers like our hospitals and nursing homes.

My position is that cuts, and especially drastic cuts, to Medicaid have to be avoided. The Senate bill cuts Medicaid too much. I agree with President Trump, the House version is better.

POTUS firm on #Medicaid pledge. Senate leadership should take heed and scale back devastating cuts. It's mission-critical to protect hospital care for all Americans.

Talked to @realDonaldTrump, on his way home from NATO, about the Senate Medicaid hospital cuts. He said, Stay with the House!

As I said, the #Senate budget reconciliation text makes a bad bill worse, and the 16 House Republicans opposing the Senate language get it right when they say the bill "threatens access to coverage" and "jeopardizes the stability of our hospitals and providers."
