i have no idea if this is legal so don't come at me but my friend runs a casino night in utah and it might be the coolest business i have seen in a while you pay $20 at the door and he hands you a stack of monopoly money real dealers on site running blackjack, texas hold'em, roulette, and craps all night whoever accumulates the most monopoly money by the end of the night wins a prize last week he gave away a brand new moped he is getting hundreds of people through the door at $20 a head and his next move is raising the price and taking it on the road as a pop-up casino night across the state i don't know what his margins look like but i know a packed room of hundreds of people at $20 a head adds up fast the creativity alone deserves respect

@StatisticUrban It’s a Utah thing (and some surrounding places like Southern Idaho and Southeast Nevada). Distinctly different from thousand island or special sauce. Created by Arctic Circle (same restaurant that created the Kids Meal).

In the Pacific Northwest and Utah, there's a popular condiment called "fry sauce" that seemingly none of the rest of the country likes. It's apparently made from a base of mayonnaise and ketchup, and various seasonings like pepper and garlic powder are added.

@StatisticUrban The concoction you're refering to is "special sauce" and damn near every burger place in the country has some variant of it. "Fry sauce" comes from an old PNW burger chain called Arctic Circle that hasn't existed in 30+ years. It was the same ketchup/mayo mix but to dip frys in.

@StatisticUrban Fry sauce is ubiquitous thruout the US. Raisin’ Canes, Chick-Fil-A and every mom and pop shop around have some form of it. Add pickle relish and you have Big Mac sauce. Laughable to think it’s unpopular anywhere - it’s just not always called “fry sauce” in the rest of the US

@adamkovac @mattyglesias Vision Zero works in Europe because they actually enforce traffic laws and require more difficult tests for licensing. In America, politicians just declare “vision zero” without actually taking the steps needed for it to be successful.

Urbanists are loathe to admit it, but Vision Zero has been a flop. All the public education campaigns and road diets can't compete with phone-distracted drivers. As @mattyglesias says, the rational response would be to embrace autonomous cars. But urbanists aren't.
