Displacement began in earnest in 2013–2014 when Boko Haram began overrunning Local Government Areas in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states.

The numbers are staggering. Over 2 million internally displaced persons. Hundreds of thousands of refugees in Niger, Chad, and Cameroon. This is the real face of the Lake Chad Basin crisis.
