A small piece of EU cybersecurity law history after yesterday’s discussion with @XaverSchulze on CRA, NIS2 and ISO 27k. I had the opportunity to comment on the first Czech cybersecurity law draft back in 2013, while delivering solutions to the people behind it. At the time when this wasn't even a thing in Europe. France was first in 2013. Czechia followed in 2014, then Lithuania and Germany. Much of the rest of Europe only came with the 2018 NIS wave: 19 Dec 2013 — France: Loi n° 2013-1168 du 18 décembre 2013 relative à la programmation militaire...; Article 22 inserted security rules for systèmes d'information d'importance vitale used by opérateurs d'importance vitale. However, it was not a standalone “Cybersecurity Act,” but the cyber obligations were introduced by Article 22 of the Military Programming Law, which inserted cybersecurity rules for operators of vital importance. JEDINÉ SANKCE KTERÉ MOHOU ZASTAVIT VÁLKU Ukrajina čelí totálnímu kolapsu, vláda se rozpadla, finance dochází, škody na infrastruktuře přesahují 100 % HDP země... Přesto všechno vzdoruje přesile. Dnes fungují jediné sankce. A těmi jsou útoky na ruskou infrastrukturu. Všechno ostatní masivně obcházíme a dál pereme ruskou ropu, součástky i peníze. Jak se můžeme vůbec opovážit chtít po Ukrajině, které zbývají doslova měsíce (rozhodně ne roky), aby přestala tyto sankce uplatňovat? Kdo má tu drzost žádat o zastavení útoků na agresora? Zastavit jedinou účinnou obranu.

Když tohle dělal opilý Jelcin, tak jsme se mu smáli. Tady to dělá abstinent Trump. Po Jelcinovi přišel Putin. Takže já si už teď říkám: Co přijde po Trumpovi?

New investigation by @VSquare_Project, @InsiderEng, @DelfiEE, @FRONTSTORY_PL and @ICJK_sk reveals a direct “Kremlin hotline” between Moscow and Budapest. Hungarian officials allegedly coordinated with Russian representatives to remove sanctioned oligarchs, companies, and banks from the EU sanctions list. Some insights from the story: - Hungarian negotiators reportedly shared draft EU sanctions proposals with Moscow - Russian officials suggested which oligarchs and entities should be removed - Hungary then pushed these demands during EU negotiations - The goal of all this was to protect Kremlin-linked business interests inside the EU It is now clear that Hungary’s foreign minister has actively helped Russia weaken sanctions from within the EU, and even received instructions on how to do it. The EU’s sanctions policy needs a serious overhaul. The veto must be removed, even if Orbán loses the April elections.

Zelenskyy: People keep saying Ukraine can't win because Russia is nuclear power. Then what security guarantees should Ukraine get to counterbalance nuclear state? NATO? Nuclear weapons? What frustrates me most is that no one speaks to Russia with the same urgency: "Russia, you must back down, compromise, and end this war now, because people are dying." As you see, no one talks to them like that.
