@vichblen @villainlesbian in general i treat setting up 3d models as an alternative to sketching. it takes a similar amount of time if not more for me. in my experience they're best used as a guide and allowing yourself to break the models or freehand stuff combats the stiffness

@vichblen @villainlesbian using 3d models as a tool is a skill in itself honestly. after practicing for a while you train your eye on how not to make the poses stiff. composition and anatomy knowledge is as important as in normal sketching

never realised just how many artist trace 3d models,,, not that I think it's "cheating" per se, but doesn't anyone feel bad about not coming up with stuff,,,,, not to mention the style annihilator 3000 aspect of it all

@peachinash i need people to actually try drawing with a 3d model for the first time and compare it to high skilled artists who use them regularly. it's the only way for them to learn the skill is still absolutely needed lol

I need everyone to understand right now that drawing without 3D models or reference images does not make you a better artist than one who does. Do you really think you can trace over a 3D model or reference pic and have it be perfect anatomy and perspective IMMEDIATELY? NO!
