@_PrincessSaira_ @rachelnevasyah1 I wish MCPS was asking teachers to return to classrooms. It can be done safely. And there are plenty of families offering lots of money to teachers/tutors. Maybe you should explore that option unless that makes you feel unsafe. Lots of opportunities with tutorting companies.

@rachelnevasyah1 At my school all the families and students have elected to learn virtually— the company/school still wants us to come in to campus to zoom the students from our classroom—unnecessary risk to be exposed to each other — in terms of education, it doesn’t benefit the kids

I have issued an amended emergency order ensuring that local schools and school systems retain the primary authority to determine when to safely reopen their facilities. My full statement:

@GovLarryHogan Thank you for supporting families who pay taxes and make sacrifices and choose to send our kids to private and faith based schools. Our school has safe plan and we feel comfortable with our children returning to the classroom. Our kids mental health is at stake so thank you!

@MCPS Later start and later dismissal was a terrible idea! Now Elem kids get home when it is dark! Teachers dislike as well.
