This is the best summary of the personal impact of the California Wealth Tax I've seen. Founders, if you have super voting shares, your tax liability may be substantially higher than your net worth. Private company shareholders, especially those in heavy industries, face a similar risk. Note this tax can apply to founders and shareholders with far less than $1B in net worth as well. As a lifetime Californian, this pains me to say, but founders of any unicorn company or any startup that could become a unicorn this year, really need to start planning a potential move or many will face 30-50%+ wealth taxes and potential bankruptcy. I'm still hopeful that voters will see the serious negative impact on California's tax revenue, services and jobs and will vote this proposition down... but it's so egregiously bad that you need a backup plan. taxfoundation.org/research/all/s…

I am an Iranian university professor. I was in Iran until last week and directly witnessed the uprising of the Iranian people. What is happening is a revolution born of desperation and courage. I fully and unequivocally endorse the speeches of Masih Alinejad and Ahmad Batebi at the UNSC. Every claim made by the Iranian regime—including by its foreign minister and its UN ambassador—is nothing but deliberate, systematic lies meant to cover up crimes. The regime has already killed my friend Parsa Saffar, a brilliant medical student at Mashhad University. Was he a terrorist? His only “crime” was being young, educated, and Iranian. The regime has filled the country with thousands of body bags. Were they terrorists too? How unarmed protesters, many of which being very young students can be terrorists? Why the so called "terrorists" that the Iranian regime claims only kill protesters, and not the rally of regime supporters? Understanding Iran is painfully simple. Iran possesses some of the world’s largest oil, gas, and natural reserves, yet the Islamic Republic has driven the country into collapse: one of the weakest economies in the region, the least-valued currency in the world, crushing inflation, families unable to afford food or rent, massive unemployment, and millions of young people unable to marry or build a future because of economic despair. The people are angry—and rightly so. The Islamic Republic has turned Iran into a deadlock through aggression, corruption, killing its own citizens, silencing all free voices, and enforcing internet blackouts to hide its brutality. The Iranian people are demanding regime change—just as people did during the Arab Spring in Syria. The same cruel regime that sent forces to help Bashar al-Assad massacre Syrians is now using the same methods to massacre Iranians. I call on the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and every single government to end their silence in the face of the Islamic Republic’s murder machine. A regime that massacres its own citizens has no red lines—and will not hesitate to kill the citizens of other countries as well. Act now. Stand with the Iranian protesters. End this brutal regime. #IranMassacre #IranRevolution2026 #DigitalBlackoutIran

At least 12,000 people were killed in the largest killing in Iran’s contemporary history, carried out largely over two consecutive nights on January 8 and 9, Iran International’s editorial board concluded, based on a review of sources and medical data. Iran is under a coordinated blackout aimed not only at security control but at concealing the truth, reflected in internet cuts, crippled communications, media shutdowns, and the intimidation of journalists and witnesses. Publication was delayed until the evidence converged. The assessment is based on a multi-stage review of information from a source close to the Supreme National Security Council; two sources in the presidential office; accounts from several sources within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Mashhad, Kermanshah and Isfahan; testimonies from eyewitnesses and families of those killed; field reports; data linked to medical centers; and information provided by doctors and nurses in multiple cities. iranintl.com/en/202601136877

In 1979, a bunch of theocratic autocrats from the 7th century decided that all of Iran would become a giant open air prison. Entire generations of women were born into a world where they could not experience air flowing freely through their beautiful luxuriant hair. This is, inshallah, ending now. All of my public engagement is about promoting and defending liberty and freedom for ALL people.

Amusing Munger anecdote that didn't fit my story yesterday: A few years ago, the endowment of a major university (I could name but not crucial) asked Charlie to join their regular meeting. He did and, of course, lectured them a bit. He was stunned they allocated so much $ to so many managers (each charging a ton). They listened attentively and then asked: Do you have any good managers we should add?

At VALUEx BRK, I talked about the need to fix US healthcare, which would make life better for all Americans. youtu.be/9VFcYDpLW2o?si… Our Founders knew that special interests would be a problem for our democracy, and that an answer was to shine a light so that the majority could see what was happening in the dark. Two things you can do: 1. Ask every politician and journalist you meet why Medicare pays 8x for Ozempic what other countries pay. 2. Email your Senator and Representative about Senate bill 3548, which calls for hospitals and health insurers to make their prices transparent. S3548 was introduced by two Republicans, two Democrats, and an independent Senator. And it is supported by ~90% of Americans. Ask your elected officials why it has not passed. Thank you to Senator @Hickenlooper and his co-sponsors. Their leadership on this issue deserves our admiration and support.

I still cannot believe that I can: - look at a world map and tap anywhere to zoom in at street level - instantly access any song, book, movie, tv show, or podcast ever made - have any conceivable question and get an immediate answer or video explanation - take a photo or video wherever I am and add it to my massive, searchable, always accessible personal archive - video call anyone in my life, at anytime, no matter where they are - watch live sports on a little wireless glass rectangle - type out these thoughts and have them read by thousands of people, all over the world, a few seconds later
