At @Europarl_EN, I announced the launch of the Svoboda Satellite Package. Russian independent media are still read, viewed or heard by 6 to 9% of the adult population, we need to increase their reach. Svoboda will help to increase this audience. A satellite package: ➡️ accessible to 4.5 million households within the Federation of Russia and approximately 800 thousand in occupied Ukraine via existing satellite dishes; ➡️ which currently broadcasts 9 Russian-language television and radio channels; ➡️ which will include up to 25 independent Russian-language radio and television channels; ➡️ and which aims to reverse the logic of propaganda of the Russian federation by broadcasting independent journalism from democracies. rsf.org/en/rsf-officia…

I attended a gathering in solidarity with the nine @AFP's journalists in #Gaza this morning, alongside the agency's Paris teams, demanding that the Israeli authorities ensure their security and allow them to leave the territory if they need to.
