If you’re not scared by what this portends, you should be. Nobody is spending these resources trying to keep kids from seeing boobs.

Every time Trump survives an assassination attempt he enters a kind of zen fugue state where he transcends his usual belligerence and radiates unearthly serenity. "I wasn't worried," he said after this last one. "I understand life. We live in a crazy world." In this photo he looks like the speaker of Yeats's "Lake Isle of Innisfree," gazing dreamily into the respite that awaits him when at last his labor on this earth is done. "Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee, And live alone in the bee-loud glade." This usually lasts about a week before he goes back to thundering obscenities at his enemies and wishing hellfire upon them at the merest provocation.

For the first time in over 50 years, humans are Moonbound. At 6:35 p.m. EDT (2235 UTC) NASA’s Space Launch System rocket and the Orion spacecraft lifted off from the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, sending four astronauts on a planned test flight around the Moon and back. go.nasa.gov/4tlRfRS

Director Gabbard is exactly the person we need in the position of DNI right now. She is now testifying to how she checked her personal views at the door when she agreed to serve under the President of the United States, and to provide the best intelligence possible.

@MattSmith2044 Double-edged sword. I blame a testosterone high on the chest injury I got three years ago. My hormones said I could said bench the PR I hit in my early 20s. Reality said I could not and left me with a pectoral tear.

Testosterone reduces hesitation around pursuing rewards which makes it easier for you to ask questions. Whether you are pursuing friends, a job or sex you have to have the balls to make an ask, and maybe not get the answer you want. Asking a senior at work for a coffee chat. Inviting someone to your party. Asking someone on a date. These all require you to take risk. Testosterone helps you make that leap, and if it doesn’t go right, it helps you bounce back and make the ask again.

This is why American is different. No disrespect to anybody else or other countries. Just speaking to and about middle class America. You can believe all you want about the power of the elite class riding around on yachts, private country club memberships, politicians using their platforms to divide and to enrich themselves and think they are better than everybody else. When you get into the heart of America. This is what you get. This picture symbolizes America. There are still badasses by the C130 loads in this country. Don't let social media fool you. Please don't. Those boot wearing, blood spitting, potato eating SOB's are the silent majority I promise you. When it's time to kick ass and take names. They will be there. They won't be recording with their Iphones, driving Lexus SUVs. They won't be wearing Gucci shoes and Peter Millar golf shirts, Smathers and Branson belts but you'll know they are there. You won't hear them. You will see them. This picture symbolizes this country. Its toughness has never wavered from it's founding to modern day. It doesn't give up. It's gets knocked down, gets up and fights. So when you see that man with dirty hands, dirty boots, torn jeans missing a tooth, calluses on his hands and two toddlers hanging off his arm after a 14hr work day. Just know...that is America. That is the United States of America. That is the majority. Judge them how you want but never under estimate their resolve when their back is against the wall.

Countries are passing laws requiring state ID in order to use social media ("protecting kids" is the pretext), but the real effect is to track everyone online . It upsets some when I say it, but @TaylorLorenz has been one of the few reporting on and warning about this danger.
Hans Mahncke@HansMahncke

The social media ban for teenagers which is being fast-tracked across the Western world, is a Trojan horse for ending internet anonymity. That is the short of it and the long of it. Resist it at all costs.

Being a teenager/young adult in the 90s was a massive blessing. Great music. Awesome vibe. No smart phones. Personal connections. Maximum fun. Minimum evidence. I think it may have been pre-payment to compensate for the absolute shitshow that would be our mid-40s to mid-50s.

Gimme a break. How many innocent civilians did Obama kill with drone attacks in Libya, Somalia, Yemen, and Syria? When Democrats controlled House and Senate in 1989, no one argued Bush didn't have the authority to capture Noriega (under similar pretenses used to capture Maduro) and send him to Miami. Let's not forget Obama's surge of forces in Afghanistan after campaigning on ending "dumb wars" and attacking Hillary for lacking the "judgement" to be President bc she voted for the Iraq War Authorization. Meanwhile Obama tapped a VP and two Secretary of States who supported the same resolutions. The Obama crowd should sit this one out, especially when it comes to "breaking" campaign promises. But let the weak and woke progressive pearl clutching begin!
Ben Rhodes@brhodes

A regime change war in Latin America based on absurd rationales about drug trafficking, no explanation of goals, and counter to everything Trump promised campaigning. And we’re not even a full year into Trump’s term.
