It’s the scale of what TV has become unfortunately. Shows in the 2000s and early 2010s were made like television. Now they’re made like films. Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, this new Harry Potter series. These are essentially 8 hour movies broken into episodes. The high budgets and production complexity that comes with that makes annual seasons nearly impossible. Whether that tradeoff is worth it is another question. Gone are the days of 22 eps a year for one show!

The Harry Potter series has felt like a rumour for so long that seeing an actual image today made it feel real for the first time. Something is genuinely happening. Grew up with these books, queued outside the cinema to see the original films and tomorrow there’s a trailer. Not ready but also completely ready. Let’s go! ✨
