So the outline for the first two chapters is barely done and its already 4000 words. Plus I haven’t started doing episode analysis to look for more details yet so its only going to get longer. If I’m lucky, maybe I’ll get it done before season 3 😅

@ab1acksh33p I’ve never read the book but I know about it. I’m using a similar technique to unpack a repressed memory I didn’t know I had atm and its kind of wild (and upsetting) the stuff that’s coming up despite having no memory of it. I think its why I relate to Helena/Helly so much

@chronicallytas Yeah in psychology there's a phrase (and an amazing book) "The Body Keeps the Score". Essentially talking about how, even if our mind protected us from the memory, our body remembers it.

I love all the clues that Helly was connected to Lumon right from the start. Like Helly immediately looking for hidden doors, asking if she was raised to be consumed (Jame chose her), getting triggered every time Mark mentions a seasaw... and wanting to get the fuck out of there

@ab1acksh33p Oooo I love that! The concept of severance erasing conscious memory but not body memory is so interesting. Its all the details of what the innies remember that say so much about what they went through as outies. Helena having a similar experience in that room makes so much sense

@chronicallytas In my prequel I actually have a scene where Helena is in this exact room for a video presentation when an alarm sounds and the doors lock and she does almost the exact same things, like how did Helly know there are secret wall compartments? The body remembers.

@canopycritique Yeah, she’s taking up all the space but in a good way. I’m not sure yet. I want to go dark but that also means going deeper which means more writing so it will depend on what’s realistic it terms of actually getting this thing written 😅

@canopycritique I’m also just 100% working out my trauma through her character. There are a lot of parallels to her story and what I’m dealing with right now. I just have to decide how dark I want it to get 😅

@canopycritique Yeah. I should know better by now. I’ve never written anything “short” in my life 😭 it was always going to be Helena centric but it wasn’t going to go this in depth into her back story. The snow seal scene is what got the ball rolling… and now its more like a snow whale 😝

@ab1acksh33p Thank you! Don’t know if I’ll make it to forming a finished work but at this point it feels like its writing itself so I’m rolling with it. I need to do a rewatch so I can over analyze everything and flush out the details which may take me a while 😅 I’ll have to check yours out!
