A fun fact about the 458 GT3 is that it was actually homologated with 2 different styles of wheels that could be used. While the Motegi wheels would be the choice for most teams, in the car's first year in 2011 it was also run with BBS wheels fairly regularly

Long before their Cadillac exploits, JOTA developed the turbocharged MX-5 GT4 that competed in British GT in 2012. Two class podiums came in the form of a 3rd at Brands Hatch and a 2nd a Snetterton, although the car only finished 2 other races in the 6 weekends it competed in

The Monaro 427c is infinitely funnier than the M3 GTR when it comes to "cheated up 2000s GT cars" because while the M3 got its one year in ALMS and then got the rules changed, the Monaro just straight up killed the Bathurst 24 and Nations Cup Championship after 3 years

Built for the 2013 Dakar, Jose Luis Alvarez built 2 Smart Fortwos (actually Polaris XP 900s with Smart bodywork) for the side-by-side category. Unfortunately the team wasn't able to get the funds together and the Smarts never got the chance to race

Oh yeah, fun fact about the Callaway C7 GT3-R, the reason SRO events always use the Corvette logo and not a Chevy one for it is because it was actually homologated with the brand as "Corvette", which I'm not exactly sure how that works

2009 in British GT saw a battle over Mosler MT900R GT3's status as a national homologated GT3 (It was rejected full GT3 in 06). Ironically this was instigated by the Preci-Spark Ascari KZ1-R GT3 team, which was GT3 homologated despite also not meeting production requirements

With an absolutely stacked lineup of Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Dominik Schwager, Dirk Müller, and Marcel Engels, a hybrid Gumpert Apollo took on the 2008 Nurburgring 24. Qualifying 22nd, the car would end up not classified only completing 53 laps after a transmission replacement

@Nemoticon @sniffpetrol I can completely understand. I love my smart to the extent that I think it’s my forever car. Despite the fact it looks abandoned most of the time . But a proper gearbox would make it sooooooo much better . I think because of this an mr2 is probably the better car

@chubbyjoeforza @sniffpetrol Well, the impressive part is that the Roadster is almost as light as the Beat. But then again, the Beat is a full decade older. I really do like the Smart Roadster, a fun and funky looking car, though my MR2 did tick more boxes for me👍
