Produser Ryan Tedder, yang tampil di ZachSang Show, memuji BTS dalam sebuah wawancara di balik layar mengenai pengerjaan album Arirang. Musik mereka bukanlah sesuatu yang didikte oleh Bang PD atau perusahaan. BTS yang memutuskan dan memilihnya sendiri. Proyek ini adalah ide yang datang langsung dari para member. Setelah para member berkumpul dan memutuskan arah musiknya, saya menerima email dari Bang PD tentang jenis suara yang diinginkan BTS, dan itu membuat saya terkejut. Karena itu benar-benar kebalikan dari apa yang sedang tren di LA saat itu. Dulu, semua orang di LA bergerak ke arah seperti "Ayo kita buat yang seperti Justin Bieber." Bagi BTS, ini bukan tentang "Ikuti tren ini dan buatlah," melainkan "Apa yang sedang kita dengarkan saat ini?" itulah yang penting. Musik yang mereka dengarkan adalah 070 Shake, Tyler, The Creator, Travis Scott, Lil Yachty, Tame Impala, dan hal-hal semacam itu. Itu benar-benar berbeda dari apa yang kami duga. Kebanyakan orang menganggap "Butter" sebagai lagu terakhir yang muncul di pikiran mereka saat memikirkan BTS. "Dynamite" adalah lagu yang paling bernuansa pop di antara lagu-lagu BTS. Namun, saran terbaik yang diberikan Bang PD kepada saya adalah "Dengarkan musik awal BTS," dan setelah mendengarkan lagu-lagu awal BTS, saya benar-benar terpukau dan menyukainya. Saya berpikir, "Wah, ternyata mereka jago sekali nge-rap?" Ada banyak lagu yang jauh lebih intens dan mentah daripada "Butter" atau "Dynamite." Berdasarkan vibe musik awal BTS dan musik yang sedang didengarkan BTS saat ini, kami dapat menentukan arah untuk pengerjaan album tersebut. WOW BTS 💜
