April has been an exciting month for Person Public Involvement (#PPI) activities! Between co-delivering lectures in UCC and RCSI, presenting to the Dementia Advisor service, submitting conference abstracts and engaging with politicians in Leinster House it has been all go!

When the Dementia Research Advisory Team first started in 2019, we only ever met in person. Nowadays, we meet more and more online which, excitingly, allows us to collaborate with researchers not just here in Ireland but internationally also! #PPI #DementiaResearch

Last week, our Research & Policy Team had the pleasure of meeting with @alzheimernl for a dynamic knowledge exchange session and conference. Together, we shared expertise, ideas, and practical advice to strengthen our collective efforts in supporting dementia research and advocacy. 🌍💡

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland welcomes the decision by the European Medicines Agency to recommend Leqembi for licensing approval. This follows a re-examination of an earlier decision to not recommend the therapy for approval. We are another step closer to seeing Disease Modifying Therapies for early-stage Alzheimer’s Disease becoming available in the European Union and are optimistic that the European Commission will follow the EMA’s recommendation.
