Minister Liz Kimmins was in Derry this week where she had the opportunity to view progress on a new controlled crossing at Daisyfield. She also visited the Foyle Valley Greenway where the Department’s contribution for lighting the active travel route was discussed. The Minister also met with local politicians, residents and Bus Éireann at Nixon’s Corner and Killea to discuss key issues including road safety, bus stop location and improving connectivity in the area.

Sinn Féin’s Good Jobs Bill will help to tackle the cost of living crisis. As part of these laws, tips, gratuities and service charges will be passed on to workers in full. It is vital the Good Jobs Bill is supported by the Executive so it can make its way to the Assembly.

Economy Minister Dr @CArchibald_SF has encouraged businesses to pass on a newly announced temporary targeted VAT reduction to consumers to assist with the cost of living. Today I met with King Charles at Hillsborough. I welcomed his continued efforts to promote positive relationships between our islands, and people of Irish and British traditions here. This included hosting Uachtarán na hÉireann Catherine Connolly yesterday, and attending a Fleadh Cheoil event today, recognising and celebrating the vibrancy of Irish culture and language. We all come from different lived experiences and perspectives, but that should never be a barrier to showing respect for each other’s views and identities. As your First Minister, I am committed to building a society rooted in respect and equality for every person. I will continue to do all I can to break down barriers and ensure our young people grow up in a better world than many of us did.

This #NationalEpilepsyWeek I’m supporting Epilepsy Action who support 22,000 people here living with epilepsy. Too many still face barriers -timely healthcare & employment. We must do better to tackle inequalities, and deliver support for people with epilepsy and their families

I want to congratulate John Swinney on being elected First Minister of Scotland today. For the first time ever, there are now three nationalist, pro-independence First Ministers in office in the North of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. I look forward to working together with John Swinney and Rhun ap Iorwerth in the time ahead, as we stand up for the best interests of our people and for their right to self-determination.
