There are a million and one ways you can celebrate Irishness, our culture, heritage, history or express your views for a new Ireland without a balaclava on holding petrol bombs in a Graveyard. That's not Irishness, it's not celebrating our heritage, culture or the centuries of what's happened here. It's not even rebellious. It's encouraged by exploiters, abusers- thugs from an era that's largely thankfully passed. I feel for these young people that have been so obviously groomed by vile thugs. They deserve so much better- those exploiting these kids need to get off the backs of communities. Others who cosplay this crap need to cut it out as well. There should be no masked parading anywhere in Northern Ireland and before anyone kicks off, that applies across the board as you will know from many other previous statements.

Having faced hostility to my Northern Irish-British-Unionist identity just about all my days. Being told that my identity as Northern Irish doesn't exist. That many can't even say the name Northern Ireland. That I'm told repeatedly my own scary experiences of sectarianism during the troubles didn't happen or that I'm a liar. I struggle to see why or how that would change in a new Ireland 🤷‍♂️
