Another one of my favourite advantages is "Future in Science." Students get to experience what #Scientists do, as well as experience careers and universities through participation, and was said to increase their interest in science careers! 👩‍🔬

Excitement was mentioned as a factor that motivates and engages students because #CitizenScience is a novel method to learn in many classrooms. One project leader even said, "bringing citizen science into the #classroom is really exciting and empowering and engaging."

By far, learning was the most frequently reported advantage for #student participation by #CitSci project leaders but some of these other hidden advantages are what really make #CitizenScience participation so special + powerful!

With #learning as a common advantage described from student #CitSci participation, it takes many forms & crosses disciplinary boundaries. #CitizenScience is perceived to increase awareness & excitement of science, develop scientific skills and scientific thinking.
