Hey, folks! Just a heads up: Due to concerns about the whole ‘scraping fics off of AO3 to train AI bots’ thing, I am (sadly and reluctantly) planning to archive-lock all my works sometime within the next 48-72 hours.

@mdzsfavesongs AO3 isn't doing anything! Stuff is getting stolen/scraped off AO3 (and basically the whole internet) to train AIs/chatbots. :(
There isn't really much we can do except lock down our works so people have to log in to view it. It can still be scraped, but it's an extra barrier.

@Petirrojo57 Everything will remain on AO3! It'll be visible to registered users, and my current WIP will be finished there!
It's just that folks who don't have an AO3 account won't be able to see it. I wanted to give a warning so folks didn't think stuff had disappeared/been deleted.

If you don’t have an AO3 account, you won’t be able to access my stuff anymore. Just wanted to let people know so they can create an AO3 account ASAP (and perhaps save a PDF copy if they're in the middle of one my longer fics).

@moonkatsa To clarify, because some folks seem confused: nothing is getting deleted! The fics just won't be visible to anyone who isn't signed in to an AO3 account.

I do recommend prioritizing making an account if you don't already have one because a lot of folks are locking their stuff down. :(
I'm super sad it came to this, because it's always been important to me to keep my stuff available.
