I think a lot of modern plot have been too clear with explanations that it's hard for common viewership to understand plots that need you to connect dots. This director's plot progression isn't linear, but it's not flawed at all, in fact I find him a genuis+

@yayxuans EXACTLYY i remember i got distracted during a slow dialogue exchange and i had to rewind it back a bit to understand the dialogue again bcs i knew it would be reference to anything happening in the future 😭

Basically the director is trying to summarize the history of 1,000 years in one illusion through three different timelines that are interconnected with different progression of speed. And it will all connect seamlessly to one timeline before they return back

I think a lot of ppl are confused about the illusion part. Bai zhe explains that they're stuck in different timelines. Which means that all three plots are moving in three different timelines. And in those timelines, there are more layers of timeline.
